The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will have “at least USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3” connectivity. USB 3.2 technology can carry data at up to 20Gbps, whilst Thunderbolt 3 can reach up to 40Gbps. Kuo believes it might enhance the market for high-speed transfer chips. Notably, the majority of Android handsets now support just USB 2.0 technology.

Apple has announced that it will comply with a European Union law and transition the iPhone to USB Type-C. It is also said that the next iPhone 15 series, would be the first to have these changes. Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst, predicts that the iPhone 15 series would forego the Lightning port in favour of USB Type-C. That will greatly boost data transfer speeds. But as there is always a catch, USB Type-C cable connectivity may be available only on the the top models of iPhone 15 lineup.
Kuo has suggested in a series of tweets that the basic iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus might incorporate USB 2.0 technology.
According to reports, the EU coerced Apple into adopting USB Type-C technology. The iPhone changeover is anticipated to be completed next year, and the law will go into effect in 2024. It has already switched to USB Type-C for its Mac systems, iPad devices, and other accessories.
According to a recent source, Kuo also believes that the iPhone 15 Pro variants would include solid-state buttons instead of traditional volume and power buttons. Apple is likely to include Taptic Engines on the inside left and right sides of these models to provide haptic feedback similar to physical button clicking. He also predicts that the iPhone 15 range would launch in the second half of next year.
