Motorola has shown the chipset of the next handset via Weibo. The Moto X40 will be one of the first smartphones in China to use Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Qualcomm on Wednesday revealed the new SoC as a successor to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. The Moto X40 will arrive with an OLED display with a refresh rate of up to 165Hz. It could carry 50-megapixel triple rear cameras and offer 68W rapid charging. The Moto X40 will be the successor of the Moto Edge X30.

Moto X40 Specifications

The latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC will power the upcoming Moto X40. The Moto X series will be among the first in China to incorporate Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon SoC. That was introduced on Wednesday at Qualcomm’s annual Snapdragon Tech Summit.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC is a 4nm SoC featuring an Arm Cortex-X3 core running at 3.2GHz, four Cortex-A715 cores running at 2.8GHz, and three Cortex-A510 cores running at 2.0GHz.

The Moto X40 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC delivers real-time raytracing for games and supports INT4 and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity. The new mobile platform is compatible with picture sensors such as the 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP3, as well as sensors that support Sony’s new HDR format. It has improved AI capabilities as well as Cognitive ISP.

The latest Motorola flagship phone was just discovered on TENAA. According to the description, the next smartphone would have a hole-punch cutout on the display, 50-megapixel triple back cameras, and 68W rapid charging.

The Moto X40 is expected to be available in 8GB RAM + 128GB and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage configurations.
